This article presents an analysis of the current state of research on the issue of loneliness in contemporary society. The study explores the impact of individual loneliness on emotional well-being and mental health, considering both physical and emotional isolation. The authors highlight distinctions between loneliness, social isolation, and solitude, emphasizing the internal context of loneliness. Loneliness is conceptualized as a complex internal and social state characterized by alienation from society and the loss of social connections. The article delves into the results of a survey conducted through the "Loneliness and its Impact on People's Lives" questionnaire, aiming to identify the causes and consequences of loneliness, along with factors contributing to its emergence, such as distrust, social isolation, and fear of judgment.
