Abstract

The article provides a theoretical substantiation of the role of psychological training in the system of the educational and training process of young basketball players in children's and youth sports schools. Psychological training is identified as an essential component of long-term athletic development, contributing not only to the improvement of sports performance but also to the comprehensive personal development of young athletes. The study analyzes the psychological characteristics of children and adolescents engaged in basketball, as well as the influence of age-related and individual characteristics on the development of motivation, emotional stability, volitional qualities, self-discipline, responsibility, and self-regulation in training and competitive activities.

The educational potential of children's and youth sports schools as an environment promoting the development of moral, social, and psychological qualities is highlighted. The importance of the training group as a social environment fostering effective communication, teamwork, mutual support, responsibility, and leadership skills is substantiated. Particular attention is paid to the role of the coach in creating a positive psychological climate, maintaining athletes' motivation, developing self-confidence, and enhancing the ability to cope with psycho-emotional stress and adapt to competitive demands.

The main objectives of psychological training are defined, including the formation of intrinsic motivation for sports self-improvement, the development of psychological readiness for training and competition, and the enhancement of psychomotor abilities, concentration, emotional resilience, and self-control skills. Based on the analysis of contemporary scientific literature, it is concluded that the systematic implementation of psychological training methods improves the effectiveness of the educational and training process, facilitates young athletes' adaptation to physical and psychological loads, contributes to stable sports performance, and promotes their harmonious personal development.
