The article presents the results of an empirical study on the psychological features of life balance among university students in contemporary conditions. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to investigate the factors influencing the maintenance of life balance among students under conditions of social instability, high academic workload, social transformations, and martial law. The aim of the study is to identify the psychological features of life balance among university students in contemporary conditions and to determine the factors affecting its maintenance. To achieve this aim, theoretical methods, including the analysis, synthesis, and systematization of scientific literature, as well as an empirical survey method based on an author-developed questionnaire, were employed. The scientific novelty of the study lies in identifying the specific features of university students’ perceptions of life balance under martial law and determining the key factors that disrupt life balance as well as the resources that contribute to its maintenance.
A theoretical analysis of scientific approaches to understanding the concept of life balance was carried out, and its psychological content was defined. The empirical study was conducted using an author-developed questionnaire, which made it possible to identify students’ perceptions of life balance, their level of satisfaction with the main spheres of life, the factors disrupting life balance, and the resources contributing to its maintenance. The findings indicate that most students perceive life balance as a harmonious combination of academic activities, personal life, physical health, and psychological well-being. At the same time, the main factors disrupting life balance include excessive academic workload, emotional exhaustion, uncertainty about the future, and the consequences of martial law. The study demonstrates that family support, communication with friends, adequate rest, physical activity, and self-regulation are the key resources for maintaining life balance. The obtained results may be used in developing psychological support programs for university students aimed at preserving psychological health and fostering life balance maintenance skills.
