Abstract

The article examines the psychological characteristics of professional burnout among notarial sector employees with different levels of perfectionism. The relevance of the study is determined by the specific nature of notarial work, which involves a high level of professional responsibility, the need for accuracy and error-free performance when handling legally significant documents, substantial intellectual and emotional demands, sustained concentration, and intensive interaction with clients. Under such conditions, prolonged occupational strain may contribute to the development of professional burnout. At the same time, perfectionism may constitute an important personal factor associated with burnout, particularly when high professional standards are combined with excessive self-criticism, fear of mistakes, and a strong orientation toward external expectations.

The aim of the study is to identify the psychological characteristics of professional burnout among notarial sector employees depending on the level and structural components of perfectionism.

The empirical study was conducted among employees of the notarial sector. The levels and structural components of perfectionism, as well as indicators of emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and professional efficacy, were analyzed. The results demonstrated that a substantial proportion of the participants had moderate and high levels of perfectionistic tendencies. The most pronounced components were self-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism. It was established that higher levels of perfectionism were associated with more pronounced manifestations of professional burnout, particularly emotional exhaustion and cynicism, as well as lower professional efficacy. The strongest association was identified between socially prescribed perfectionism and emotional exhaustion. Theoretical and empirical findings provide grounds for considering perfectionistic tendencies as one of the psychological factors associated with professional burnout among notarial sector employees.
