PECULIARITIES OF THE CHOICE OF THE PROFESSION OF A PSYCHOLOGIST BY STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

The article considers the problem of students' choice of higher education profession of a psychologist, as well as the motives and factors that influence this choice. Based on the analysis of empirical data, it is established that young people who choose the profession of a psychologist are guided mainly by internal motives, the desire to communicate and help others, as well as to build a career in this profession.
The article found that when choosing a specialty "Psychology", students were most attracted by the opportunity for personal development, vocation and ability to this profession. And the main factor complicating the choice of future specialty was the insolvency of their families. The main factors that complicated the choice of future specialty were the insolvency of students' families, the unavailability of the profession for certain reasons; doubts and uncertainties about their own knowledge and health problems. It was found that most of the respondents underwent special training to enroll in the specialty "Psychology", namely: engaged in tutors in external independent assessment. But the main factor that influenced the choice of this specialty were the recommendations of parents.
The article finds that students, choosing the profession of a psychologist do not yet have sufficient knowledge, ideas and professional motivation, so during their studies at a higher education institution they rethink their attitude to this profession.
The author of the article concludes that in the process of professional self-determination of those who are focused on the profession of psychologist, closely intertwined desire for self-realization and self-affirmation through social motives and tendencies to self-actualization based on the need to understand self, self and inner motives.
