Abstract

The article presents a theoretical analysis of the psychological characteristics of pharmaceutical professionals’ occupational activity under the conditions of war and a pandemic. The relevance of the study is determined by the increasing psychological burden, expanding professional responsibilities, and growing responsibility of pharmaceutical workers. The effectiveness of their occupational activity largely depends on professionally important qualities, emotional intelligence, adaptive resources, and the ability to interact effectively with the population under conditions of uncertainty.

The study substantiates the significance of the communicative and emotional component as a key element of pharmaceutical practice and demonstrates the growing role of emotional intelligence in maintaining effective professional performance during prolonged crises. Particular attention is paid to stress, professional adaptation, and coping strategies as essential mechanisms for preserving psychological resilience. It is argued that war and a pandemic act as powerful macro-social stressors that increase the risk of emotional exhaustion and reduce occupational effectiveness. The findings emphasize that the prevention of burnout depends on both individual psychological resources and organizational support.

The article proposes an authorial conceptualization of the psychological characteristics of pharmaceutical professionals’ occupational activity, including professional-competence, communicative-emotional, adaptive-stress, and coping-resource components. Their interaction determines occupational effectiveness, psychological resilience, and the quality of pharmaceutical care during prolonged social crises.
