The article analyzes the possibility of using the biographical method to study the problem of the personal creative potential. Creative potential is considered as a set of personal features and skills, which are manifested through the actualized personal need and willingness to interact with the outside world and live in a society.
The purpose of the article is a scientific and psychological reflection on the considering the biographical method as a way of studying the creative potential of the personality in the process of its formation and development.
Biographical method is a method of synthetic description of man as a personality and a coordinator of their own activity. The advantage of the method is the ability to study the personality in the process of development. The biographical method is both historical and genetic, as it allows to trace the dynamics of the life path, which is important in the study of the development of the personal creative potential.
In psychology, the biographical method is a system of tools for research, diagnosis, correction and designing of human life.
Biographical method involves identifying exquisite situations of individual personality development, which determine the formation of structural components of the psyche and individual-stylistic characteristics of creative potential and study the mechanisms and patterns of self-regulation and self-organization of creative potential based on adaptive and maladaptive processes.
Scientific and psychological reflection on the genesis of the biographical method allows to consider it a way of meaningful scientific study of the formation and development of personal creative potential on a systematic analysis of significant psychosocial experience of the creative personality: micro- and macro-environment of the creator, exquisite situations and subjective difficulties, creative plans and strategies, individual style of creative activity.
