Abstract

The scientific article presents a theoretical and practical study of the peculiarities of men's behavior in difficult life situations. An overview of the study of various aspects of stress, crisis and difficult life situations, and coping strategies is presented. Much attention is paid to the development of stress management programs, overcoming post-traumatic stress disorders and post-stress recovery. At the same time, despite the prevalence and variety of research in this field, many aspects remain insufficiently examined, in particular, modern research on the psychological personality characteristics of men who find themselves in difficult life circumstances. The purpose of the article is to study the psychological characteristics of men who find themselves in difficult life circumstances. The psychological personality characteristics of men are described and the protective mechanisms and coping strategies of men in stressful situations are presented. In the empirical part, a study of the levels of psychological well-being of men was conducted and the peculiarities of their self-attitude were determined. It was established that the majority of respondents take responsibility for their own fate. The level of their self-acceptance indicates respondents' acceptance of themselves as they are. Indicators of internal conflict indicate the presence of internal conflicts, doubts, disagreements with oneself, anxiety-depressive states accompanied by feelings of guilt. Levels of self-blame indicate that a significant part of respondents tend to blame themselves for failures. The conclusions indicate that men who find themselves in difficult life circumstances develop a fragmented, insufficiently realistic perception of various aspects of life. In stressful situations, there is a strong tension, to overcome which the internal resources of the individual are sometimes not enough. Also, since there are internal and external personality types among men in difficult life circumstances, it is necessary to take these features into account when developing psychological correction programs to overcome difficulties.
