Adolescence is characterized by a variety of changes that occur in every area of development. It is during this period that the so-called transition from the type of relationship "child-adult" to a completely new one - communication between adults takes place. A favorable form of transition to a new type of relationship is possible if the adult himself shows initiative, restructuring his attitude towards the teenager, that is, perceives him with all the changes, vision of the world, etc. Unfortunately, the opposite usually happens - teenagers become alienated from adults because they lack the understanding and support that is so necessary at this stage of life. During adolescence, a personal sphere of interpersonal contacts and one's own space of psychological comfort, often closed to adults, is actively formed. Excessive control or intrusive attention from adults often causes protest reactions, which can transform into deviant or delinquent behavior.
The psychological portrait of a juvenile offender covers the level of moral and legal socialization, features of the emotional, volitional and motivational spheres, existing character accentuations, intellectual development and individual psychological characteristics. Socialization of the individual includes the process of assimilation of social experience and its transformation into a system of internal attitudes and value orientations. An important role in this process is played by the activity of the individual and the flexibility of his behavioral strategies.
Particular attention should be paid to the unconscious motives of criminal behavior, which are often caused by disharmonious personality development, inadequate self-esteem, or compensatory mechanisms associated with feelings of inferiority, family conflicts, or experiences of humiliation.
